On Thursday night, before the game against the New York Islanders, a fair number of disgraceful Montreal Canadiens fans booed the U.S. national anthem to voice their displeasure at U.S. military action in Iraq. So it was nice to see an apology issued by Montreal Canadiens' president, Pierre Boivin.
It was even nicer to see that this behaviour had pretty much been corrected when the Canadiens played the Carolina Hurricanes last night. Toronto fans and Edmonton fans should also be applauded for their excellent behaviour during the U.S. national anthem before their games last night.
The Caps were the team at Edmonton last night, and despite playing some excellent hockey, they were beaten 5-3, giving up four goals in the third period. To make matters worse, Tampa Bay beat Phoenix 4-0, and are now three points clear of the Caps at the top of the southeast division!
The Caps face the Vancouver Canucks tonight. Being top of the northwest division, they're not exactly the most ideal team to be playing right now, especially as the Caps need a win to keep within reach of Tampa Bay! I'll be hoping for a win, although a tie would also be a good result.
