Happy Halloween!

The Caps were absolutely terrible last night - they got beat 7-2 in their first game back home after an eight-game road trip! I won't even post a link to the match report, it hurts too much...

In other news, I've almost finished changing all the buggy pages on this site - only the Anti-Spam section is left to complete - I should have all those pages finished by the end of the day. Once that's done, I shall begin work on restoring the Mariah Carey section back to its former glory.

Somebody please help me - I'm addicted to NHL 2003!

Speaking of the NHL, the Caps were beaten 3-2 by Pittsburgh on Monday night. They face Boston tonight - I shall listen in if I can stay awake long enough...

Thanks to my good friend Vishal, I am now aware of a sneaky e-mail worm disguised as a greeting card, that uses its victims address book to spread itself. It's not technically a virus, but it has prompted Symantec to issue virus definitions. Anyway, I'm off to play NHL 2003 again...

Yay! My copy of NHL 2003 should arrive in the post tomorrow. And speaking of the NHL, the Washington Capitals were beaten 3-2 by the southeast division leaders Tampa Bay Lightning on Friday night. And last night, they came back from a goal down to draw 1-1 with the Florida Panthers.

Staying with sport in America, LA Galaxy were beaten with a single goal by Columbus Crew in the U.S. Open Cup final on Thursday. The defeat denied them the treble. You can click here to read the full match report, courtesy of CNNSI. I can't wait for the MLS to start again next year.

I stayed up until 2.30am this morning to listen in on the NHL league game between Washington Capitals and the New York Rangers. It wasn't the best of games, but at least the Capitals got back to winning ways after losing their last two. You can click this link to read the full match report.

The MLS Cup champions Los Angeles Galaxy take on the Columbus Crew in the U.S. Open Cup today. Unfortunately, it's on far too late for me to listen to it and I have work early tomorrow morning anyway, so all I can do is wish them the very best of luck and hope they win!

I still can't find my provisional driving licence anywhere... it has got to be in my room somewhere! In other news, the FBI is attempting to hunt down the perpetrators of DDoS attack I mentioned yesterday - good luck to them - I doubt they'll even come close to finding out who did it.

Finally for today's update, this is what the net needs more of - legal music downloads. I look forward to the day when I will be able to download all my music like this. Oh, and look out AOL, Microsoft releases MSN 8 today in a $300m advertising campaign. Wow! Read this article from CNN for more info.

I've no idea what is wrong with my beloved Aston Villa at the moment. They're fourteenth in the league - that's only three points off the bottom of the table! If they don't start winning again soon, they could find themselves embroiled in a relegation battle, the thought of which is almost unthinkable!

I'm currently hunting around my room for my provisional driving licence because I can't for the life of me work out where I've hidden it! I know it's in my room... somewhere. But, once I find it, I shall finally finish of learning to drive. Finding a good job will not be easy if I don't have a driving licence!

I have NHL 2003 on order from Amazon at the moment. It was due to be released last Friday, but was delayed for a whole week - it will be released this Friday and I should have it by Saturday. Championship Manager 4 on the other hand, won't be released until February 2003 - I think I'm going to cry!

I am going to e-mail my ISP Blueyonder in a moment to ask them why their abuse scanner keeps attempting to scan various ports on my machine for no apparent reason. It really upsets my firewall as they make at least sixteen attempts every time! I shall let you know their response as and when I get it.

In other news, I shall be opening the GazNET Store either this month or early next month! You'll be able to buy all sorts of high quality GazNET branded merchandise, like t-shirts and mugs, and have them delivered direct to your door! Isn't that cool? Keep an eye out for the new store coming soon!

Finally, did you know there was a Denial of Service attack against several of the Internets most critical servers? I didn't know either until I read the news reports. If you're interested, have a read of the BBC article or the CNN article. Phew! That's all for today...

I simply must say congratulations to Los Angeles Galaxy on winning the MLS Cup - with a golden goal in the 23rd minute of overtime! You can read the full match report here, courtesy of the excellent CNNSI. Here's hoping they go on to crush Columbus Crew in the U.S. Open Cup at Crew Stadium!

It has been nine days since my last post, so this post will be extra long to make up for it. I never did receive any more e-mails infected with the Bugbear e-mail worm last week (which is a good thing I'm sure you'll agree), but just before I began writing this, you guessed it, I received another!

My good friend Vishal gave me a tour around Aston University last Wednesday afternoon. It was as he told me - full of sexy ladies! And speaking of Vishal, he sent me this excellent BBC Online article about spam and privacy, which is interesting but moreover, very worrying.

I seem to have amassed a huge collection of AOL CDs, offering numerous hours of free Internet access. So I might just do what the people in this CNN article are going to do - send them all back to AOL and tell them to stop sending any more because they're a pain in the backside!

Finally, I've had today off work again! Unfortunately, I'm back in work tomorrow morning. But that's not so bad because tomorrow is Sunday, and that means double pay! Right now, I'm compiling the latest Anti-Spam Protection File update, which will be available for download on Sunday afternoon if all goes to plan.

I can't believe it. I really can't believe it. I actually have a Saturday off work coming up! In fact, I have both Saturday and Sunday off this week! And what's more, I may have every Saturday off work from now on! As you can see by my over-use of exclamation marks, I am very, very happy about this!

I'm currently re-working the HTML code for each page on this site. Due to a minor flaw in my coding, visitors using higher resolutions see a distorted version of all the newly designed pages (the left and right columns expand when they should in fact stay the same size). It will be fixed soon...

I'd like to take this entire post today to say good luck to my good friend of many years, Vishal. Today, he starts his masters degree at Aston University. Apparently there are lots of sexy ladies doing the same degree as him, so naturally I now wish I was doing it too!

See? What did I write yesterday? I said there would be more to come... of course, you know I'm on about the Bugbear e-mail worm (again). I received another e-mail infected with it this afternoon (interestingly enough it was spam). I'm going to keep a tally of how many I receive this week... just for fun.

After writing about it all week, I finally got my first e-mail infected with the Bugbear e-mail worm. I'm pretty thankful that I have the excellent Norton AntiVirus installed on my machine as it detected and deleted the e-mail worm the minute it hit my inbox! There will be more to come I'm sure.

It was back to this place today after three deserved days off. They're expecting me to become a supervisor and take over the running of a department for no extra pay - I refuse to do it - even if I do get offered more money. I want out of that place as quickly as possible before I lose my sanity.

The Bugbear e-mail worm is continuing to spread so make sure your machine is protected. The RIAA wants telecoms company Verizon to hand over the details of a subscriber who allegedly used its internet access services to trade copyrighted songs - it will be interesting to see how this one turns out.

Okay, forget what I wrote two days ago about the Bugbear computer worm not doing too much damage. It appears that the little blighter is spreading like wildfire across the web! In fact, due to an increase in submissions, Symantec Security Response has upgraded it from a Category 3 to a Category 4 threat!

I heard the brand new single from my favourite female artist Mariah Carey yesterday. It's called Through The Rain and it's a classic Mariah ballad that I reckon will go to number one in the USA when it gets released. I think it would be worthwhile updating the Mariah Carey Pages just to celebrate!

In other news, the Bugbear computer worm is bouncing around the Internet. It can terminate anti-virus and firewall programs as well as log your keystrokes! However, experts believe that a bug in the code means it won't do too much damage. As usual, it takes advantage of yet another Microsoft security hole.
