I've been noticing a lot of entries in my firewall log for probes to port 445 (Windows SMB). And when I say a lot, I'm talking hundreds possibly thousands of probes over the last couple of weeks. And it turns out that I'm not the only one noticing this either. A nasty worm might be imminent. Make sure you're protected.

Forgot to post something yesterday to say that I'm back home safely. The flight back home wasn't anywhere near as bumpy as the flight to Inverness. In fact, it was a perfect day for flying! I've got around twenty photos to post here shortly, but as they've come out a little dark, they'll need a little bit of brightening first...

Well, this is it - my last training session, which I'm already half-way through. Once the trainees have completed the exercises I've set for them, and I'm confident everything I've taught them has sunk in, it'll all be over. I've enjoyed my time up here, but I'm starting to miss my home comforts, so I'll be glad to get home.

It has been raining all day - and I mean all day - in Inverness so I've been holed up in my hotel room watching TV and reading the paper. It has stopped raining now, though, and hopefully it'll stay that way so I can go out, take a few more pictures and see the sights! I've just one more training session to go now after this.

The training session last night went really well - I received excellent comments from my trainees. And by the looks of things, tonight's session is going to be the same, too! I'm very pleased with myself, and really glad I agreed to come up here and do it. I've just one more group to teach tomorrow and Thursday now.

I had a nice long sleep this morning and got up around 11-ish. After grabbing a paper I trekked into the city centre (around a 5 minute walk) and found a McDonald's where I had breakfast. I then had a good wander around the city, which really is a very nice. Depending on the weather, I might go see Loch Ness tomorrow.

Well, apart from the bumpy flight everything thus far has gone smoothly, and I'm dispensing my training wisdom like I've done it all my life. Luckily for me the people I'm training are fairly clued up so that's making my job a lot easier. Just another couple of hours to kill now and that'll be my first session over and done with!

Accommodation-wise the Heathmount is very nice indeed - I'm very impressed with it - my room is better than I thought it would be. Inverness (at least the bits I've seen of it so far) is nice, too (if a little cold). Depending on what the weather is like I might go out and do a little sight-seeing tomorrow after I wake up.

Well, I'm almost packed now, and I've not long to go before I catch my flight up to Inverness. I'm a little nervous but overall I'm feeling very confident that I can do a good job up there. I'm working daft hours (7pm-3.30am), so if and when I post here, it'll be between those hours. I might even take some photos, too!

I've almost finished my preparation for the training I'm going to be doing up in Inverness. It should all be done by early Friday afternoon. All the travel arrangements are now sorted. I'll be flying out Monday afternoon and returning Friday afternoon. I'll be staying at the Heathmount, which looks really, really nice!

I'm extremely apprehensive and nervous about going to Inverness next week. I can't wait to get it over and done with. In future I'll remember to make sure I fully understand what I'm letting myself in for before I agree to anything! I'm going to give it my best shot, though. Hopefully, something positive will come out of it...

I'm been rather busy of late, hence the lack of updates here. I'm off to Inverness in Scotland in a week or two to help with some training. Now this wouldn't be a bad thing in itself except I've been told that it's me (and just me) doing the training and I have to produce my own presentations, handouts etc. Argh! Why me?

I've recently finished reading Deception Point by Dan Brown and I thought it was excellent. It was extremely well put together with an excellent twist towards the end that I never saw coming. I'd find it hard to pick a favourite from Dan's four novels so far - they really are excellent reads, and I highly recommend them all to you!
