Those most excellent people over at the Mozilla Foundation released
Firefox 1.5 late last night, and I must say, it is superb. I'm really, really impressed. It's the best browser there is by an absolute mile in my humble opinion. If you've not given it a go yet, why on earth not? You should go and
download a copy right now!

I ventured down to Villa Park yesterday afternoon to watch
Villa take on Charlton. I wish I'd wrapped up warmer because I was absolutely freezing! Still, about half way through the second half I'd soon warmed up celebrating the only goal of the game, which gave Villa a deserved
1-0 win and their second straight victory!
Well, after winning three shootouts on the trot it was only a matter of time before the
Caps lost the odd one or two. They lost
4-3 to the Tampa Bay Lightning in a shootout on Wednesday night, and then
3-2 to the New York Rangers in a shootout last night. The Capitals are at home to the Sabres later this afternoon.

The
Caps really need to stop letting the opposing team get so far ahead in a game before they actually decide to start playing. They let the Pittsburgh Penguins get four nil up in last night's game before they started to fight back, and eventually lost the game
5-4. They're at home to the Tampa Bay Lightning this evening.

Woohoo! What a great weekend it has been for my teams. First of all
Villa beat Sunderland
3-1 away from home to move away from the bottom of the table and into 15th place. And last night the
Caps thumped the Canadiens
5-1 - with Kolzig stopping 43 shots - in a well earned second victory away from home this season.

Washington Post sports columnist Tony Kornheiser does make me laugh. Talking about the low attendance at
Caps home games:
"...sometimes there are so few people you can sit in Section 113 and have a conversation with a guy in Section 117 without raising your voice." The full article (it's actually about Ovechkin) is
here.
And speaking of the Caps, they've been without top goalie Olie Kolzig for four games since he hurt his hamstring in Toronto two weeks ago, and boy has it shown. They were clubbed
8-5 by the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday night. Ouch. Olie should be back in action tonight when the Caps take on the high flying Canadiens.

I do like the new
Fiesta 2006, particularly the
ST and
Zetec models. I might buy one next year sometime, but that depends on how things pan out at work. I can't quite afford it at the moment. Also, if I hold off until next year it'll be cheaper for me to insure than it is currently as I will be older and have been driving longer.

The
Caps lost the second of their back to back games with the New Jersey Devils
3-2 on Saturday night, but bounced back with a superb
4-3 shootout win against Tampa Bay last night. Man, I shudder to think where in the standings the Caps would be right now without star man Alexander Ovechkin... probably last place!

Sports Interactive released
Football Manager 2006 a couple of weeks ago, and predictably there was a patch on the day of release! There will be a few more to come I'm sure, so I'll hold off purchasing it until they iron all the bugs out. In the meantime, Football Manager 2005 (with the 5.0.5 patch) is still a great game.

Capitals results since my last update:
3-2 win against Buffalo,
4-2 loss to the Lightning,
8-1 loss to the Flyers,
3-2 win against the Thrashers,
5-4 win against the Leafs,
6-4 loss against the Leafs, and last night a
4-3 loss against the Devils. So a mixed bag of results there. The Caps play the Devils again later this evening.

I've only just read
this announcement from
Codemasters and it has made my weekend. Can you believe it? They're bringing back the best football game of all time on any format - Sensible Soccer! I will be keeping a very close eye on the game's
home page from now on! Now whatever you do, Codemasters, don't screw it up!

Things just aren't going right for my beloved
Aston Villa at the moment. A
3-1 loss away at Manchester City last Monday night, and then a
2-0 loss at home to Liverpool on Saturday has left them sitting 17th in the Premiership, and close to the relegation zone! The game against Sunderland next Saturday is a must win.
Over the other side of the pond,
D.C. United finished their MLS season with a
2-1 loss to the MetroStars and a
2-2 draw with Columbus to finish second in the East. However, after a
0-0 draw with Chicago in the first leg of the Conference Semi-Final, they lost
4-0 in the second leg and went crashing out of the MLS Cup!

I eventually finished reading
Patriot Games by Tom Clancy a couple of weeks ago. It's another superb novel from Tom Clancy, but I felt it kind of drifted a bit in the middle before a superb action-packed ending that had me turning the pages really fast. I'm currently reading his next novel
The Cardinal Of The Kremlin.
I've also recently finished
Casino Royale by Ian Fleming. It's a very good book. Fleming's Bond in this book is a
lot different to the one in the movies. Personally, I think only Timothy Dalton ever came close to Fleming's vision. It will be interesting to see how Daniel Craig portrays him in the movie due out sometime next year.

Yes, I'm still here! Hmm. No updates for almost two weeks. That said, I have been either too busy or too tired to write anything of late. I might post something tomorrow, even if it is a moan about the
Villa. Then again, I might leave it until the weekend. I shall see how I feel when I get home from work tomorrow evening.
