The next installment of Valve's Half-Life saga,
Half-Life 2: Episode One, begins preloading on
Steam next week. It shouldn't take too long on my 4Mb connection. Once that's complete it will be released on June 1st. I shall definitely be purchasing my copy shortly, and I might even have a couple of days off work to play it!

I'm currently reading
From Russia With Love by Ian Fleming. After that I'll be starting my next Tom Clancy novel
Debt of Honour. Earlier this week I finished reading his previous novel
Without Remorse. It was different to his previous novels, more focus on the character than on technology, but I really enjoyed it.

Despite a
1-0 loss to Man City at home on Tuesday, and a
3-1 loss to Liverpool today,
Villa are safe from relegation. Thanks to Portsmouth beating Wigan, They Who Must Not Be Named and West Brom were
both relegated. So although Villa got beat - again - I'm actually feeling rather happy! Nice one, Portsmouth!
Over the other side of the pond
D.C. United beat rivals the New York Red Bulls
4-1 away last Saturday. They're sitting atop the Eastern Conference with a record of 3-0-1, which matches their best start in club history. D.C. United face the only other unbeaten team in the MLS,
FC Dallas, later today at RFK Stadium.

A couple of weeks ago I finished reading
Diamonds Are Forever by Ian Fleming and
The Lincoln Lawyer by Michael Connelly. Diamonds Are Forever was another good Fleming read. The Lincoln Lawyer was just brilliant - I finished reading it in under a week! It's a long wait now until the next Connelly novel called
Echo Park.

With a
6-4 victory over Atlanta (which stopped the Thrashers reaching the playoffs for the first time in their history), and a
4-1 victory over Tampa Bay, the
Caps ended their season in fine style. They accumulated a total of 70 points, which was good enough for 27th place in the league. The playoffs begin tomorrow!
Meanwhile over this side of the pond,
Villa failed to build on that most excellent
3-1 spanking of They Who Must Not Be Named over the Easter weekend, losing
3-2 away to Wigan on Tuesday night. Villa still aren't mathematically safe from relegation, so I'm hoping a victory over Man City next Tuesday will put an end to that worry.

A couple of weeks ago my 30 day trial version of
NOD32 ended. However, I was so impressed with it I now own the full version! I had already decided to purchase the full version long before my trial ended, though. If you currently use Norton AntiVirus I urge you to give NOD32 a try. I am confident you won't switch back.

I'm selling a few things I no longer want on the net auction giant that is
eBay. The items are
Visual Basic .NET 2003,
Football Manager 2005,
NHL 2005 and
NHL Eastside Hockey Manager. I've priced them
really low in the hope of attracting prospective buyers. Bidding on these items finishes on Saturday afternoon.

My favourite MLS team,
D.C. United, beat Houston Dynamo
2-0 on Saturday. D.C. play the
New York Red Bulls next Saturday. In hockey the
Caps lost
5-3 to the Atlanta on Thursday, but beat Florida
2-1 (SO) on Saturday night. They now only have two games remaining: Atlanta this evening and Tampa Bay tomorrow.

Happy Easter!
I've had an especially happy one after seeing
Villa beat They Who Must Not Be Named
3-1 earlier today. What a game and what fantastic result! The atmosphere at Villa Park was electric. Apart from half-time, I didn't sit down for the entire game. Yes! Woohoo!

The weekend is here already! It's an extra long one because tomorrow is a Bank Holiday and Monday is also. Recently I've been busying myself code fixing this website so all the pages
validate correctly. At the moment the main issue is unencoded ampersands, but it looks like the older pages will be a lot more troublesome!

Villa played out an entertaining
0-0 draw with West Brom on Sunday. The atmosphere inside the ground was great, despite only 33,303 turning up - quite a disappointing crowd for a derby game if you ask me. Villa play They Who Must Not Be Named next on Easter Sunday. It's a
must win game. Defeat just isn't an option!
D.C. United beat Chivas USA
2-0 on Saturday for their first win of the season. They play
Houston Dynamo next. In hockey
Caps star Ovechkin became the sixth NHL rookie to reach 100 points last night during a
2-1 (OT) victory against Boston. The Caps lost their two games prior to that
4-3 to Carolina and
5-0 to the Islanders.

My favourite MLS team,
D.C. United, started their MLS season off with a
2-2 draw at home to the New York Red Bulls. Not a bad result really considering they were two goals down at half-time. They're at home again on Saturday to
Chivas USA who got their season off to a great start with a 3-0 win against Real Salt Lake.
The
Caps have also had a mixed bag of results in the past week or so. They beat Carolina
5-1, lost
3-2 (OT) to Montreal, beat Ottawa
1-0, lost
6-5 (OT) to Carolina, and lost
4-3 (SO) to Carolina (again) last night. Phew! The Caps play Carolina (yes, again!) tomorrow, and they they now have just seven games left.

Villa got slaughtered
5-0 away at Arsenal over the weekend. How embarrassing! I expected them to lose, but not by that many! Arsenal could have scored even more, too! O'Leary still thinks
he can fix it, though. He'd better. I don't like seeing my team that far down the table! Up next for Villa: West Brom at home on Sunday.
