It's a whole lot earlier than I expected, but I'm picking up my new car on Saturday! I'm so excited. It'll be a nice early birthday present for me. My birthday is next Thursday by the way, so you've still got plenty of time to buy me a present! If you're stuck for ideas, take a look at my Amazon UK
Wish List for inspiration...

Right, time for a sports update I think. I'll start with the
NHL and the Stanley Cup. As I predicted, it was close. It went all the way to the last game in a fantastic series, but it was the
Carolina Hurricanes who lifted their first Stanley Cup in franchise history on Monday evening with a
3-1 win over the Edmonton Oilers.
Yesterday was the NHL Entry Draft. The St. Louis Blues had the first overall pick, and they took defenseman Erik Johnson. The
Caps had two picks in the first round and they took defenseman Nicklas Backstrom, and Russian goaltender Semen Varlamov. More details on the Caps' other picks at the Draft can be found
here.
My favourite MLS team,
D.C. United, are continuing to run away with the Eastern Conference. They drew
1-1 with Los Angeles two weeks ago,
1-1 with New England last week, beat Chicago
1-0 on Wednesday night, and beat Kansas City
1-0 last night. Seven of United's next eight games are away from home. In a word: Ouch!

I must get out of this weekly update cycle I seem to be in at the moment. To be honest I haven't got much to talk (or moan) about really. I became an
Aston Villa season ticket holder for the first time ever a few weeks ago, and I'm picking up a
new car in July, but other than that not much else is going on at the moment...

Remember when I
went to buy a new car and Ford didn't have the one that I wanted in stock? Well, I received a call on Thursday from the dealer. They had got hold of a new
Fiesta Zetec Climate in Panther Black for me, and asked if I was interested. I said yes, of course, and I'll be taking delivery of it in mid-July!
I also received my
ZM-NBF47 from
QuietPC in the post last week. The installation was a touch fidgety at times, and there wasn't a whole lot of space to spare as the Northbridge chipset is right next to the CPU (which is cooled by my giant Zalman CNPS7000A-AlCu) on my motherboard, but I now have an even quieter machine!
Finally, if you haven't played
Half-Life 2: Episode One yet, go out and
purchase a copy or download it from
Steam - it's brilliant! A little short perhaps, but brilliant all the same. I can't wait for Episode Two! I think this episodic content approach by Valve is much, much better than waiting years for a Half-Life 3.

So it's the
Edmonton Oilers and the
Carolina Hurricanes who will do battle in this years Stanley Cup Final. They beat Anaheim and Buffalo respectively to make it this far, but which team is going to lift hockey's greatest prize? Well, that's a tough one to answer I think. I'd like to see Edmonton win it rather than Carolina.
In
MLS my favourite team,
D.C. United, are running away with the Eastern Conference. They beat the Kansas City Wizards
3-1 last Saturday, thrashed the Columbus Crew
5-1 in midweek - with Jaime Moreno scoring his 100th MLS goal - and beat New England Revolution
1-0 yesterday! United play Los Angeles next Saturday.
