If all this takeover talk and being managerless is affecting the
Villa players, they certainly aren't showing it. Preseason preparations are continuing to go well and Villa are looking very impressive indeed. They've beaten Walsall 5-0, Hull 2-0 and Wolves 3-0 in friendlies. The new season is only three weeks away - I can't wait!
Other side of the pond
D.C. United stretched their unbeaten streak to 14 games with a
3-2 victory over Kansas, a
1-0 victory over Dallas, a
1-0 victory over Columbus, followed by another
3-2 victory over Columbus and a
1-1 draw with Chicago. But that came to an end yesterday when they lost
2-1 to Real Salt Lake.

My beloved
Aston Villa are looking for a new manager following yesterdays announcement that David O'Leary had
left the club by mutual consent. To be honest there was no way he was going to stay after being implicated in that statement. I think it's for the best anyway. I wonder who will be brave enough to replace him?

Almost two weeks without an update. I must update more often. So Italy
won the World Cup on penalties then. That meant I lost out on the top prize of £20 in the World Cup Sweepstake at work, but at least I won £12 - not a bad return on my £1 investment! And, of course, we won't forget that Zidane headbutt in a hurry!

So it's Italy against France in the World Cup Final. That means I'm guaranteed £12 in the World Cup Sweepstake at work as I drew France! The
only reason I want France to win is so I can claim the top prize of £20! England were a total disappointment at this World Cup. Bad tactics and bad squad selection. Maybe next time, eh?

It's my birthday today. I'm 25 years old. A quarter of a century. Ouch! Thanks to all who have sent me presents and cards and best wishes via text messages, instant messengers etc. I've had the rest of the week and Monday off work to relax. Today is also the birthday of
President George W. Bush who is 60 years old.
