What a fantastic result and performance from
Villa yesterday! In front of new owner Randy Lerner they beat Newcastle
2-0 at Villa Park. Lerner received a
standing ovation from the Villa fans as he took his seat before kick-off. The season breaks for Internationals now, but when it resumes, Villa's next game is West Ham away.

Well, going down 1-0 to Reading in their first home game of the season probably wasn't what they had in mind, but
Villa made a great come back to win the game
2-1 in the end. Villa play Newcastle at home tomorrow afternoon. Oh, and Randy Lerner now has a
majority holding in the club - 57%! This is fantastic news.

What a fantastic result for
Villa on Saturday! They were unlucky not to take all three points against Arsenal, but if you'd told me before the game it would be a
1-1 draw, I would have been quite happy with that. Villa's first home game of the season is tomorrow night against newly promoted Reading. I shall definitely be there!

I've had the Shapeshifters debut album
Sound Advice on heavy rotation both on my PC and in my car this week. The whole album is well crafted, but the best tracks for me are Sensitivity, Back To Basics, the huge summer 2004 anthem Lola's Theme, You Never Know, Route One and Little Green Men. Quite an impressive debut.

A rival consortium called AV06 says it is putting together a 70m bid to buy
Villa. That's well over 5% more than Lerner's bid, and the takeover rules here in the UK stipulate that if they were to put that offer on the table, the irrevocable undertakings given to Lerner would become void. I don't think this is over just yet...

Woohoo! My beloved
Aston Villa are to be taken over by American billionaire Randy Lerner after the Board accepted a 62.6m bid for the club (
BBC,
CNN,
Sky). This is fantastic news! Martin O'Neill will be signing a better deal shortly, too. It really is great to be a Villa fan at the moment. The Premiership kicks off on Saturday!

Martin O'Neill
has been named as the new manager of
Aston Villa. Watch those season ticket sales go through the roof now! I think it's a great coup for Villa, and hopefully, if American billionaire Randy Lerner buys the club, good things will happen at Villa Park. I can't wait for the season to begin - there's just two weeks to go!
