2-0 last Saturday, and have at last acquired some new players! Defender Phil Bardsley has
signed on loan from Manchester United, striker John Carew has been
signed from Lyon in exchange for the useless Baros, and - best of all - the versatile Ashley Young has
signed in a £9.65m deal from Watford. Woo!
The
Caps meanwhile have slipped down to twelfth in the Eastern Conference. They beat the Carolina Hurricanes
5-2 and lost
4-1 to the Florida Panthers before the 55th NHL All-Star Game on Wednesday (the West won
12-9) and were beaten
6-2 by Carolina on Friday, before beating Carolina again
7-3 last night!

Villa lost (again)
3-1 to Manchester United on Saturday afternoon. I'm starting to get a little worried now. Villa have slipped down to 15th in the table, and there's no sign of any new players coming in the January window! Watford are the visitors to Villa Park this Saturday, and that is a must win game for Villa.
Since hammering the Philadelphia Flyers last Tuesday evening, the
Caps have lost three straight games. They lost
5-4 to Tampa Bay, got hammered
7-3 by the Florida Panthers on Saturday night, and lost
5-2 last night to the Ottawa Senators. Let's hope they get back to winning ways tomorrow night against Carolina, eh?

Villa ended 2006 with a
2-1 defeat at Charlton, but got 2007 off to a good start last Tuesday evening with a well earned
0-0 draw at home against Chelsea. I went up to Old Trafford over the weekend to watch them play Manchester United in the FA Cup, but thanks to a goalkeeping blunder in injury time, Villa lost
2-1.
The
Caps ended 2006 with a
4-3 defeat against New Jersey and a
4-1 defeat against the Rangers. They started 2007 just as badly with a
3-2 defeat against the Coyotes, but got back to winning ways in style with a
5-1 win against the Canadiens, a
3-2 (OT) win against Atlanta and a
6-2 hammering of the Flyers last night!
