Barring a miracle the
Caps will almost certainly miss the playoffs. They lost
5-3 to the Canadiens on Tuesday night, and lost
3-2 (SO) to San Jose the following night. The did end their five-game losing streak by beating New Jersey
4-2 last night, but New Jersey avenged that defeat by beating the Caps
3-2 earlier today.

Villa haven't got a game until March 3rd when they play Fulham away. Meanwhile, over the other side of the pond, the
Caps have plummeted to 15th place in the Eastern Conference. They lost their last two games
3-2 (SO) to Tampa Bay, and
3-2 to Pittsburgh. They play the Montreal Canadiens later this evening.

The
Caps have only managed one win -
4-3 (OT) against Los Angeles - in the last three games. Prior to the Los Angeles game they were beaten
3-2 (SO) by the Boston Bruins, and on Saturday they lost
5-2 at home to the Rangers. Not good. Their next game is a tough one against the Tampa Bay Lightning tomorrow night.

It's nice to hear Randy Lerner talking about his
motivation for buying
Villa, and also his
vision for the club. It was also nice to hear Richard FitzGerald setting his sights on Villa
competing in the Champions League in five years time. Yesterday's
2-0 loss away at Reading, however, shows there is still a long, long way to go.

I just don't understand how a tiny bit of snow can cause so much chaos in this country. I left work today at 6pm. My journey time is normally around 30 minutes - I got home at 8pm! The Police said it was
almost impossible to drive in the city. I agree. It doesn't matter how
clever your car is if the tyres can't grip the road!

The
Caps are currently eight points behind a playoff spot after a bad run of results recently. They lost three in a row:
3-2 to Ottawa,
6-3 to Florida, and
2-0 to Pittsburgh, before gaining a much needed
2-1 (SO) win against the Islanders on Saturday night. The Caps face off against the Bruins later this evening.

I haven't followed the NFL playoffs anywhere near as closely as I normally do this year, but I'll offer my congratulations anyway to the
Indianapolis Colts on their
29-17 victory over the
Chicago Bears in Super Bowl XLI yesterday. It looks like it was a really entertaining game in Miami. A shame about the weather, though!

Apart from the first ten minutes or so,
Villa played well on Wednesday night against Newcastle. They still lost
3-1, but at least Young scored on his debut. Carew scored as well, but the goal was wrongly disallowed for a foul. He did score on his home debut though, as Villa beat West Ham
1-0 yesterday afternoon.

I mentioned
back in October that I was working on a new design and backend application for this site. I'm still working on it. I have a new design that I'm very happy with, however, the backend application that will do the job that
Movable Type currently does at the moment, is going to take slightly longer to code and test.

I went to see
The Pursuit of Happyness starring Will Smith last night. And yes, I know there is no 'y' in happiness, but that's how it's spelt in the title of the movie. So there. Anyway, I didn't really expect to enjoy it as much as I did. There's a moral or two in there somewhere, and overall it's a fantastic movie. Recommended.

I was at Birmingham's superb
Symphony Hall today proudly attending my mum's graduation ceremony, and to see her dressed up in a cap and gown to collect her Foundation Degree in Early Years. It brought back a lot of good memories.
Four years ago, I was there with my good friend Vishal doing the exact same thing.
