The
Caps crashed to a
4-3 defeat against the Carolina Hurricanes last Thursday evening, and were beaten
4-1 by the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday. They lost again
4-3 to the playoff-bound Pittsburgh Penguins last night as well. Only five more games left to play now and that will be their season over for another year.

After last week's disappointing 1-0 loss at home to Arsenal,
Villa drew
0-0 against Liverpool on Sunday in front of a capacity crowd at Villa Park, picking up a much needed point. It was the most boring game I've seen at Villa Park for a long time, but nevermind. I'm hoping for three points against Everton in two weeks time!
The
Caps meanwhile, lost
4-3 (SO) to the Boston Bruins last Thursday, however, they ended their longest losing streak in 25 years the following night by beating Toronto
5-1, and demolishing Tampa Bay
7-1 on Sunday! They got beat
5-2 by Buffalo last night, though, and they play Carolina away later this evening.

Villa lost
1-0 at home to Arsenal last night. I was disappointed they didn't get something out of the game as they played very well indeed in the second half. The ball just wouldn't go in the net. Villa entertain Liverpool next on Sunday afternoon. It'll be another tough game. A win would be nice, but I'll happily take a draw.
Meanwhile, over the other side of the pond, the slumping
Caps crashed to another two defeats:
5-2 against the New York Islanders on Saturday night, and
4-2 to the Atlanta Thrashers on Monday night. They play the Boston Bruins later this evening, and could even still finish bottom of the league if they're not careful.

No game again for
Villa this weekend. They play Arsenal on Wednesday night. Meanwhile, over the other side of the pond, the
Caps lost both their games during the week, going down
3-0 to the Toronto Maple Leafs and
3-0 to the Carolina Hurricanes last night. They play the New York Islanders a later on this evening.

So, it's March already, and after a couple of weeks off,
Villa finally played a game of football yesterday. Sadly, despite taking the lead, they drew
1-1 with Fulham, but I would have been happy with a point there anyway. Villa now have three home games in a row coming up. Arsenal are first up next Wednesday evening.
The
Caps meanwhile have continued to struggle. They lost
6-5 (SO) to the Florida Panthers,
5-4 (SO) to Tampa Bay Lightning, and got hammered
6-2 by the New York Islanders last night. Having plummeted all the way down to 14th in the Eastern Conference, the playoffs are definitely out of the question now.
