I'm off on holiday to Spain for a week with Adam and Richard on Sunday. We'll be staying in an apartment near Murcia. I'm looking forward to just getting away from it all and to relax and recharge my batteries. The weather is going to be absolutely scorching whilst we're there. This Sunday can't come quick enough for me!

I watched Zodiac on Friday night. It's based on a true story about a serial killer of the same name who committed a string of murders in San Francisco during the 60's and 70's. I thought the movie was nicely done, but at 160 minutes it was too long, and I found myself rapidly losing interest towards the end and wanting it to be over!

So this years Stanley Cup Final will be contested by the Anaheim Ducks and the Ottawa Senators. I must admit I didn't expect the Ducks to beat the Red Wings! After staying up late and watching them lose to the New Jersey Devils in the Stanley Cup Final a couple of years back, I really do hope the Ducks win it this time.

I saw 28 Weeks Later - the sequel to 2002's 28 Days Later - at the cinema on Friday night. It wasn't as jumpy or scary as I thought it would be, but there was a lot more action - not to mention a lot more blood and gore! I did spot a couple of chronological mistakes, but overall it wasn't a bad film at all.

The Stanley Cup Conference Finals started over the weekend. It's the Buffalo Sabres against the Ottawa Senators in the Eastern Conference, and the Anaheim Ducks against the Detroit Red Wings in the Western Conference. The Senators have a commanding 3-0 lead over the Sabres. The Ducks and Red Wings are tied at 1-1.

So the best football league in the world has finished for another season. I'm actually going to miss it rather badly. Villa ended the season with a 2-2 draw at Bolton and finished in 11th position. I'm happy with that. I'm definitely renewing my season ticket. Next season is going to be interesting to say the least. Roll on August!

If you have ever contacted me by using the contact form, and you haven't received a reply, it's not because I'm ignorant or couldn't be bothered to reply, it's because the e-mail address the form pointed to was incorrect! I have now corrected this problem. Thanks to my good friend Richard for letting me know about this!

I watched Next starring Nicolas Cage and the lovely Jessica Biel and Julianne Moore at the cinema last night. I thought it was a pretty good film (even though it was a little cheesy in places), but the ending was strange and I totally didn't get it. Don't worry, I won't give it away. Go watch it yourself and see if you get it.

I went to see Fracture starring Anthony Hopkins on Saturday night, and I thought it was very good film indeed. I couldn't work out how the gun had just vanished (either that or I wasn't paying enough attention at the beginning), but I thought it was very cleverly explained in the end. It's definitely a film I'd recommend.

Yesterday was an absolutely fantastic (not to mention emotional) day for every Villa fan inside a packed Villa Park. Before the game, the entire European Cup winning squad of '82 was paraded on the pitch to celebrate Villa winning Europe's top club competition 25 years ago. They got a thunderous and well deserved reception.

I was only a year old when Villa won the European Cup, so I don't have any memories of it. My Dad certainly does, however, and you could see what it meant to him and a lot of the older supporters - especially when the '82 squad saluted the Holte End. The current squad then outclassed Sheffield United 3-0 to cap off a great day.

Villa unveiled their new club crest yesterday. I applaud the inclusion of a star to represent the European Cup triumph of '82, but I must admit I'm not too enamoured with the rest of it at the moment. I guess I need to see it on some merchandise and on the new kit before I give my final opinion. Maybe it will grow on me...

I must also admit I'm not too enamoured about They Who Must Not Be Named getting promoted back to the Premiership again. Sure, it might be good for Midlands football, and local derbies always stir up the passion, but I'm not pleased they're back so soon. Oh, well. I'll enjoy taking six points off them next season!
