Villa hammered Wrexham
5-0 last night to progress to the third round of the Carling Cup. Meanwhile, earlier today defender Zat Knight signed from Fulham in a £3.5m deal. He's not exactly the big signing I'd been hoping for, but he is a lifelong Villa fan, and that makes him okay in my opinion! Villa play Chelsea next on Sunday.

I watched
The Bourne Ultimatum at the cinema on Friday night. I've not seen the first two films, nor have I read the novels by Robert Ludlum, so there were some parts that I didn't quite understand, but I thoroughly enjoyed it nonetheless! I must get around to watching the first two films on DVD at some point.

Villa deservedly beat Fulham
2-1 yesterday to notch their first three points of the season. I didn't think the winning goal was going to come, but eventually Fulham couldn't withstand the pressure Villa were piling on, and Maloney snatched all three points in injury time. Villa play Chelsea next at Villa Park on Sunday.

There's just over a week left before the transfer window closes, and
Villa still haven't added any more players to their squad, which is the smallest in the league! Martin O'Neill still reckons he'll get all his targets, though, so I guess we'll just have to have faith and see what happens. It sure is going to be a frantic final week.

I'm planning to upgrade to
Movable Type 4.0 very soon (most likely over the weekend when I have more time). There are quite a few things to do when
upgrading, due to a number of important and critical changes that have been made in this version, but I don't think it will be too difficult. I hope everything goes smoothly!

Villa earned their first point of the season yesterday evening, drawing
0-0 against Newcastle, and on reflection, probably should of had all three points! That should give their confidence a boost ahead of next Saturday's game against Fulham at Villa Park. Hopefully, they'll have signed a couple more players before then!

DreamHost had a major DNS issue yesterday, which unfortunately caused gaznet.com to be inaccessible to pretty much everybody (including me) for most of the day. So, if you were wondering why you couldn't access my site, now you know! Things seem to be all fine and dandy again now though, which is obviously a good thing.

Thanks to a free-kick that never should have been given,
Villa lost their first game of the season
2-1 to Liverpool on Saturday evening. I didn't think Villa played well at all, but I'd have been more than happy with a point. Villa travel up north to play Newcastle on Saturday. I hope they can bounce back with a win!

Villa drew 1-1 with Walsall last night in their final preseason friendly. I can't wait for the new season to start - roll on Saturday! Those idiots over at Sky Sports have already
written off Villa's chances of getting in to Europe. Despite a lack of new signings, I think Villa will surprise a fair few people this season.

Liam Ridgewell committed a cardinal sin on Friday by signing for They Who Must Not Be Named. I'm not entirely sure what possessed him to swap allegiances. Bump on the head, perhaps? Silly boy. Anyway, by my count, he's about the twelfth player to leave
Villa this summer. That's a pretty major clear out. Yowzer!

I'll be making the short trek from work to Villa Park on Thursday during my lunch hour to buy the new
07/08 Home Shirt from the
Club Shop. I suspect it might be quite busy, so I hope they have plenty of them in stock! I might even pick up a pair of
Mini Dice, a
Sticker and an
Air Freshener for my car whilst I'm over there...

It was great to be back watching a game of football at Villa Park - and what a game it was!
Villa beat Inter Milan 3-0 with a superb performance that quite simply put the Italian side in the shade. Sure, it was only a friendly game, but the way Villa cut Inter to shreds with their attacking play is very encouraging indeed.

Villa beat Stoke 2-0 in last night's friendly game to continue their fine preseason form. Their toughest test will be against Inter Milan at Villa Park on Saturday afternoon. There should be a good attendance to roar them on - I'll be there, of course - and I'm really looking forward to seeing some football at Villa Park again!

Sports Interactive have announced
Football Manager 2008 will be released just before Christmas. Now there's a surprise. Personally, I won't be buying it straightaway, as I suspect it'll be rushed to get it out in time, and as a result, will contain numerous annoying bugs that will need fixing with several huge patches.
