For my final post of 2007, I decided to look back through the
archives and count exactly how many movies I'd watched at the cinema this year. I counted a total of twenty-four! That's a lot for me, but that said, there were some really good movies released this year. Let's hope the ones released in 2008 are even better!

Congratulations to the
Patriots on completing the NFL's first
unbeaten 16-game regular season by beating the
Giants 38-35 in New Jersey yesterday. They are only the second team in NFL history to do that since the
Dolphins set a 14-game record in 1972. Anyone want to bet against them winning the Super Bowl?

It has been quite a few months since
Villa were last beaten away from home in the Premier League, and that run continued this afternoon with an excellent
2-1 victory against Wigan Athletic. Villa are now seventh (actually, joint sixth with Everton) in the table and looking good. Tottenham are up next on New Years Day.

Wow!
Villa were involved in an absolutely incredible game of football earlier. They drew
4-4 with Chelsea, and in truth, the game could have gone either way. Eight goals, three red cards and plenty of drama and tension. The Premier League is the best league in the world. Villa play Wigan next on Saturday afternoon.

Ah, Christmas. It's a magical and special time for many people, and is without a doubt my most favourite time of the year bar none. It's also a time for reflection and thanksgiving, which is why I'm off to evening mass shortly. As always, if you're interested in tracking Santa, those fantastic folks over at
NORAD are on the case.

Despite dominating most of the game
Villa could only manage a
1-1 draw at home to Manchester City this afternoon. That's four games now without a win, and they have a tough visit to Chelsea on Boxing Day coming up next. There's still that little bit of quality missing from the side. Hopefully, that'll be addressed in January.

I renewed my car's tax disc
online on Sunday evening as it was due to expire at the end of this month. Now, normally I'd moan about the cost of taxing my car, but instead I'm actually going to give this online service a glowing recommendation. It's quick and easy, and my new tax disc arrived three days later. Not bad at all.

I watched
Hitman at the cinema last Friday night. It was okay, but nothing worth getting excited about. Put it this way; I was on call that night, and if I had been called during the film, I wouldn't have minded too much. I've never played the computer game the film is based on, so I can't make a game versus film comparison.

A superb free-kick in the second-half by Shaun Maloney ensured
Villa left the Stadium of Light with at least a point against Sunderland on Saturday. The game ended in a
1-1 draw, and they could have it lost had Sunderland not had two goals disallowed. Villa play Manchester City next at Villa Park this coming Saturday.

Villa lost
3-1 to Portsmouth last Saturday afternoon. Neither team played well, but Portsmouth took their chances - Villa didn't. A very disappointing performance in my opinion. I hope they can get back to winning ways against Sunderland at Stadium of Light this Saturday afternoon. It won't be an easy game that's for sure.

I went to see
The Golden Compass, staring the always lovely Nicole Kidman, at the cinema on Saturday evening. I've never read the books, so I can't make a book versus film comparison, but I really, really enjoyed the film. There's bound to be another one or two films to come as the ending leaves it wide-open for a second.

I went to see
Beowulf on Friday night and I really enjoyed it. The CGI was absolutely amazing - certain scenes looked almost like they had been shot in real life. I'm not really sure if CGI will ever be totally convincing enough to replace real life actors and actresses, but that's the closest I've seen it come so far. Not bad.

Villa didn't manage to make it five in a row on Saturday. They lost
2-1 to Arsenal, but I was very pleased with their performance - especially in the second half - and they deserved at least a draw. If they continue to perform as they have done in recent weeks, I have no worries about them beating Portsmouth on Saturday.

Wow! Why didn't anyone tell me that two of the greatest and most memorable 80's TV shows -
Airwolf and
Knight Rider - are available to buy as DVD Box Sets?! I absolutely loved Airwolf and Knight Rider when I was younger. Man, if you were wondering what to get me for Christmas this year, then you need wonder no more!
