I haven't written much about the Caps over the past couple of years - nor D.C. United for that matter - but I do still keep an eye on both teams, and I was delighted to read that Ovechkin scored his club-record 61st goal of the season for the Caps in their 3-2 (SO) win over the Hurricanes last night. Congratulations, Alex!

Unbelievable. I cannot believe how badly Villa played today. They were quite simply awful and, again, never looked like winning the game. Sunderland won 1-0 with a goal seven minutes from the end to give them their first away win in the league this season. Villa have well and truly blown it now. I'm so disappointed with them.

It all seems to be going wrong for Villa now. After yesterday's 2-0 defeat away at Portsmouth, I think they can definitely forget about Europe this season. Maybe next season? They only have eight games left to play in the Premier League now, and their next game is at Villa Park against Sunderland on Saturday afternoon.

Well, Villa can forget about getting in to Europe next season if they continue to play the way they played against Middlesbrough this evening. The game finished 1-1, and to be quite honest, Villa never looked liked scoring from open play all night! Thankfully, Barry's cool penalty rescued a point. Portsmouth are up next.

Villa really should have beat Arsenal yesterday. Instead, the referee played the wrong amount of injury time, Arsenal scored from a corner, and the game ended in a 1-1 draw. Still, a point is better than no points (although three points would have been even better) and Villa are sitting in fifth position in the league.
