I watched The Happening at the cinema last night, and to be quite honest, I really wish I hadn't bothered - it was pretty awful stuff. I wasn't the only person who came out thinking that either. I thought the acting and writing was terrible. The only plus point I can give it is that the story was quite original. Not recommended.

I forgot to mention I went to see The Incredible Hulk last Saturday. It was much better than the first film, and the special effects were superb. Edward Norton and Liv Tyler weren't bad either. Lou Ferrigno (who played Hulk in the TV show) and Robert Downey Jr. (as Tony Stark from Iron Man) also have cameo roles.

The fixtures for the 08/09 football season were released this morning, and overall I'm pretty pleased with them! Villa will kick off their league campaign against Manchester City at Villa Park on August 16th. Is it just me or is anyone else having difficulty getting used to the idea of Hull and Stoke in the Premier League?!

Villa have rejected Liverpool's latest bid to acquire Gareth Barry. This whole saga has gone on long enough now I think. It was obvious to me towards the back end of last season that his head had been turned. I was really hoping he'd stay. If he really wants to leave then Villa should let him - but only if the price is right.

Congratulations to the Detroit Red Wings on winning the Stanley Cup with a 3-2 victory against the Pittsburgh Penguins in Game 6 (they won the series 4-2). The Caps - who made the playoffs for the first time in quite some time - narrowly lost their series 4-3 to the Flyers in one of the tightest matchups of the quarterfinals.

They haven't signed any new players yet, but my beloved Villa announced something absolutely awesome today: their new shirt sponsor will be Acorns Children's Hospice. The Acorns logo will be shown on the sacred shirt for free. Villa are the first club in the Premier League to do something like that. I'm really proud of them!
