Villa have been in excellent form since I last updated. They beat Ajax
2-1 in their first game of the UEFA Cup group stages, then went up to Wigan and beat them
4-0, and last night they beat Blackburn
3-2 at Villa Park despite not really playing all that well. Good stuff. Villa play Newcastle United next on Monday evening.

After being beaten
2-0 by Chelsea a couple of week ago, I was hoping
Villa would put it behind them by beating Portsmouth at Villa Park on Saturday. Instead, they played out a rather boring
0-0 draw. Ajax are up next on Thursday night in the first game of the UEFA Cup group stages, and I'm really looking forward to it!

I watched
Eagle Eye at the cinema last night. It was extremely unrealistic, but that didn't stop me from enjoying the awesome, almost non-stop action, which was at times breathtaking (the car chases especially). Finally, the more I see the
Quantum of Solace trailer, the more excited I get. I cannot wait for October 31st!

The
NHL 2008/09 season begins this evening with the defending Stanley Cup champions the Detroit Red Wings taking on the Toronto Maple Leafs. As for the
Caps, who last season won their first Division title for six years and got to the Stanley Cup playoffs for the first time in four, they face off against Atlanta tomorrow.

Villa drew
1-1 with Litex Lovech at Villa Park last week, but still won the tie 4-2 on aggregate to go through to the group stages of the UEFA Cup. The draw for the group stages was earlier today, and Villa are in Group F with
Hamburg,
Ajax,
Slavia Prague and
MSK Zilina. Ajax are up first at Villa Park in just two weeks time.

I watched
Taken at the cinema last night and enjoyed it immensely. It's a really good edge of your seat action movie with violence of the believable variety rather than the over the top unbelievable variety. Liam Neeson was excellent (he reminds me of Lance Henriksen in a way). Go and see it. Highly recommended.
