Over the weekend Villa drew 0-0 with Doncaster Rovers in their FA Cup fourth round game (the replay is next week) and bought Emile Heskey for £3.5m from Wigan Athletic. It would be fair to say I'm not exactly thrilled with the Doncaster result or the signing of Heskey. I'm sure Martin O'Neill knows what he's doing, though...

I recently watched Sex Drive and Role Models at the cinema. Both films are somewhat predictable, but that's not such a bad thing as they're also absolutely hilarious! Role Models in particular had me in stitches, and I personally think it was the better film of the two. Still, if you love comedies, they're both well worth seeing.

How on earth Alex Ovechkin is not a starter for the Eastern Conference in the 2009 NHL All-Star Game on Sunday is beyond me. He is the top goal scorer in the NHL at the moment, and is arguably the best player in the league! He'll be warming the bench instead. I'm sure he'll impress when he gets his chance, though.

Villa beat Sunderland 2-1 over the weekend to keep up their push for a place in next season's Champions League. Villa are on quite a run at the moment. They're unbeaten in ten games, and that victory was Villa's fifth in a row away from home. Impressive. Up next this coming Saturday are Doncaster Rovers in the FA Cup.

It's official then. Barack Obama is the 44th President of the United States of America after being sworn in earlier today at a historic ceremony in Washington D.C. After catching up on what I'd missed whilst at work, I've been watching events unfold all evening thanks to the BBC, CNN and the power of the internet. Amazing stuff.

Villa beat Gillingham 2-1 last weekend to book their place in the fourth round of the FA Cup against either Cheltenham or Doncaster Rovers. And yesterday they beat West Bromwich Albion 2-1 at Villa Park to move in to third place in the Premiership! I hope Martin signs a new player or two before the end of January, though...

I watched Yes Man, starring Jim Carrey and the ever so cute Zooey Deschanel, at the cinema on Saturday evening and I really enjoyed it. It's funny, uplifting, well acted and very entertaining. If you're not sure what to see at the cinema at the moment, Yes Man would be my recommendation without a shadow of a doubt.

Villa ended 2008 sitting in fourth place in the Premiership with a scrappy 1-0 victory away at Hull City. 2008 was a fantastic year for Villa, so naturally I'm hoping 2009 will be even better - it's certainly shaping up to be. Villa take on Gillingham at Priestfield Stadium in the third round of the FA Cup tomorrow afternoon.
