I recently finished reading Shark Mutiny by Patrick Robinson, and I really, really enjoyed it. I think it's his best book so far. I've also recently finished reading For Your Eyes Only by Ian Fleming. I thought it was a novel, but in actual fact it's a collection of short stories featuring James Bond, which are pretty entertaining!

I watched Knowing, starring Nicolas Cage, at the cinema on Friday evening. I thought it was pretty good, but the final fifteen minutes or so spoilt it for me. I wasn't entirely sure how it was going to end, but I certainly didn't see that coming. Perhaps I should have. Don't let me put you off, though - see it for yourself.

It was announced earlier today that Portland will be joining MLS along with Vancouver in 2011. Portland, Vancouver and Seattle are relatively close together geographically, so that should make for some interesting local derbies! And speaking of Seattle, they beat New York 3-0 last night to get their season off to a great start.

MLS is expanding again in 2011, and it was announced yesterday that Vancouver will be the home of the 17th team. I think this is great news. With the Seattle Sounders joining the league this year, and a yet to be named team based in Philadelphia joining next year, MLS appears to be going from strength to strength.

The 2009 MLS season kicks off on Thursday with new expansion team the Seattle Sounders at home to the New York Red Bulls. I hope they do better than Real Salt Lake, Chivas USA and Toronto did in their first seasons, and I really hope my favourite MLS side, D.C. United, has a better season than the last one!

Villa failed to get back to winning ways against Tottenham Hotspur earlier this afternoon. They lost 2-1 and never really looked like winning the game. Villa's home form has been poor this season. They have only won five of fifteen Premiership games at Villa Park. Liverpool are up next followed by Manchester United.

I forgot to mention that I saw the eagerly anticipated Watchmen at the cinema last Friday evening. It was visually very nice, and the acting was decent, but I can't help but think they tried to cram in too much, and it seemed to lack pace in parts, which is never a good thing for a movie that's well over two hours long!

I was at Symphony Hall in Birmingham on Monday afternoon to watch my mum collect her First Class BA (Hons) degree in Early Childhood Education Studies. I'm extremely proud of her. I can't believe it has been over six years now since my own graduation ceremony, which was also at Symphony Hall. Six years. Yikes!

It's all going wrong for Villa at the moment. They drew 2-2 with Stoke on Sunday when they should have won comfortably, and last night they lost 2-0 to Manchester City. A place in next season's Champions League is in danger unless they get their act together quickly! Tottenham are up next in a couple of weeks.
