Despite losing 1-0 to Malaga, Villa are through to the semi-final of the Peace Cup after a 3-1 win against Atlante last night. They play Porto tomorrow night for a place in the final against either Real Madrid or Juventus. Villa will also be playing Fiorentina at Villa Park in a friendly next Saturday afternoon - and I shall be there!

Well, I've stuck with Windows XP for almost 8 years now, but after reading so many encouraging reviews, I've decided to preorder Windows 7. I've gone for Home Premium rather than Professional as it appears to have everything I need. The preorder offer is great value too - just £44.99 for a brand new OS? Bargain!

Villa signed Stewart Downing for £12 million on a four-year deal from Middlesbrough earlier today. I was beginning to think that Villa weren't going to sign anyone the way things were going! Downing is recovering from an injury at the moment, but I think he will turn out to be a very good signing once he's fully fit again.

I'm now officially worried. Villa still haven't signed any new players, and the squad is back in preseason training! What on earth is going on? Will Martin O'Neill sign someone before the friendly at Peterborough on Saturday? Or before the friendly at Colchester next Tuesday? Your guess is as good as mine!

I've just finished reading The Brass Verdict by Michael Connelly and thoroughly enjoyed it from beginning to end. It was great to see two of Connelly's best characters - Mickey Haller and Harry Bosch - team up and I loved the little nods towards things mentioned in his previous best selling novels. Highly recommended.

I got home from work just in time to see the public memorial service for the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. The tributes, both musical and spoken, were extremely moving, but none more so than the one right at the end from his daughter, Paris - that was absolutely heartbreaking to watch. He'll never, ever be forgotten.

It's my birthday today! Apparently, I'm 28 years old, but I'm going to neither confirm nor deny that. I can't possibly be that old. Thank you to everyone who sent cards and birthday wishes via text message, though - very much appreciated. I share my birthday with quite a few famous people according to Wikipedia...

Villa still haven't signed anyone of note yet (apart from some youngster from Northampton), but I'm not overly concerned just yet - it took until July 10th last year for Villa to sign Sidwell from Chelsea! I'm sure things are well in hand, but I'll be very concerned indeed if there are no new arrivals at Villa Park after next week!

To any Americans reading this: Happy July 4th!

Mariah Carey has a brand new album coming out on August 24th! It's called Memoirs of An Imperfect Angel, and the first single, called Obsessed, is awesome. I'll be sure to pre-order my copy. I hope it's as good - if not better - than her previous album. She has worked with some top producers again so I have high hopes!
