Even though they beat Rapid Vienna
2-1 on Thursday night,
Villa crashed out of the Europa League on the away-goals rule. I'm disappointed, but it might prove to be a blessing in disguise, and Villa made up for it by beating Fulham
2-0 at Villa Park yesterday afternoon. They Who Must Not Be Named are coming up next...

What a fantastic performance from
Villa earlier this evening - they beat Liverpool
3-1 at Anfield! I was expecting a defeat or a draw at the most! Hopefully, that will give the boys the confidence to beat Rapid Vienna in the second leg of their Europa League qualifier on Thursday night at Villa Park. I will, of course, be there!

Woohoo! England have
regained the Ashes after beating Australia by 197 runs in the final Test at The Oval earlier this evening. After losing the last series 5-0 in Australia a couple of years ago, they won this series 2-1 - although it was so close at times it could have gone either way! Very well done indeed, chaps!

Villa lost
1-0 to Rapid Vienna this evening in the first leg of their Europa League qualifier. Okay, it's not the end of the world, but at this moment in time I'm not entirely convinced Villa are capable of turning things around in the second leg at Villa Park next week playing the way they are. Liverpool are up next on Monday night.

My good friend and avid GazNET reader, Vishal, sent me a link to
this clip on YouTube earlier this evening. You might guess what's coming, but that doesn't make it any less hilarious. I think it's brilliantly put together. The facial expressions - especially Kirk's - just crack me up. There you go, Vish - a mention as promised!

Well, that wasn't the start to the new Premiership season I (and most, if not all,
Villa fans) were hoping for! Villa lost
2-0 to Wigan at Villa Park yesterday, and apart from maybe the first fifteen minutes, they never looked like winning the game. More players are definitely needed - sort it out before the end of the month, Martin!

Villa signed two more players last week: the highly rated
Fabian Delph from Leeds and
defender Habib Beye from Newcastle. I think both will prove to be excellent signings - especially Delph who looked good in Villa's 1-0 win over Fiorentina at Villa Park on Saturday. I can't wait for the new Premiership season to begin!

After beating Porto 2-1 on Friday night in the semi-final,
Villa beat Juventus in a
penalty shoot-out to win the 2009 Peace Cup. Yes, I know it's only a preseason tournament and not the European Cup, but I'm delighted all the same. Villa play
Oxford in a friendly tomorrow, before taking on Fiorentina at Villa Park on Saturday.
