Villa should have beaten Arsenal yesterday. But in the space of 15 second-half minutes - thanks to some comical defending - Arsenal scored three unanswered goals to win the game
3-2 and dump Villa out of the FA Cup. I'm still fuming. They'd better beat QPR on Wednesday night or else...

I was very pleased with the
3-2 win against Wolves last Saturday afternoon.
Villa were 2-1 down at half-time, but they fought back in the second-half - thanks in part to Wolves having a man sent off - to grab all three points. Arsenal are up next in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Sunday - and I fancy Villa to beat them.

Villa drew
1-1 with Everton on Saturday afternoon, but they really should have beaten them. Villa have won just three home games out of ten this season. If they had lost to Everton it would have been the first time in a very long time that they had lost five in a row at home. Villa play Wolves away next on Saturday.

Villa beat Bristol Rovers
3-1 on Saturday evening to progress into the fourth round of the FA Cup where they will face a difficult game against Arsenal away. Before that, though, they have a couple of must win Premier League games coming up, the first of which is against Everton this Saturday afternoon at Villa Park.

I watched
The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo at the cinema on Friday evening and thought it was excellent. It was graphic in places, but not overly so. The whole cast was great, but Rooney Mara as Lisbeth Salander was outstanding. I will be absolutely astonished if she doesn't get an Oscar for her performance.

I'm disappointed with
Villa today. After ending 2011 with a fantastic win away at Chelsea they started 2012 with a
2-0 loss at home to Swansea this afternoon. Admittedly, both of Swansea's goals were gifted to them by defensive mistakes, but I thought the performance from start to finish was poor today. Not good enough.

Well, much to my delight (and surprise) after
what I wrote a couple of days ago,
Villa did end 2011 with three points against Chelsea. They won
3-1 at Stamford Bridge yesterday afternoon, and it was thoroughly deserved, too. I'm hoping they start 2012 with another win against Swansea at home tomorrow afternoon.
